Rate of inactivation of human and rodent hepatic methionine synthase by nitrous oxide

Hepatic methionine synthase activity is rapidly reduced in rats exposed to N 2 O, but
appears to be much more slowly inhibited in humans. The current study was designed to
determine whether such inactivation is of clinical consequence in patients anesthetized with
N 2 O.
